Both solar systems and roofing materials are designed to last for at least 20 years. Before a new solar system is installed, the roof needs to be assessed to see if it can be properly maintained to last another 20 years. Often this can be done with minor repairs & service, coatings, and/or overlays.

Generally with roofs >15 years old, the customer should strongly consider replacing the roof as it is not cost effective to install a solar system for only a few years and then have to temporarily remove it in order to replace the roof. Either way, K2 Solar and our commercial roofing partner can provide a complete solar and roofing package for your system.
